Heavy Thing

Recorded in 1998 by Jonathon Elkins. I wrote this at Number 38 one day when everybody was out. I drank the best part of a bottle of red and got quite enjoyably maudlin while I was writing it, and when Jo Stone came home she laughed her head off when I played her the song. Thankfully, I got the joke (after all, it was mine).

If you enjoy the tune then please:
    A) download it (free or name-your-price)
    B) use the share function to tell yer mates about it. That would be awesome of you, cheers.

lyrics

Heavy Thing
By Seamus Anthony Ennis

Oh why,
Is this planet such a heavy thing?
It weighs down heavily now,
On my poor, old, aching soul.
Oh why,
Is this melody such a heavy thing to sing?
It is way heavier now,
Than any rock n' roll song.

Oh come on over baby,
C'mon up and save me.
Give me wet kiss,
On my dry lips.
Oh come on hit me runnin',
C'mon stick your tongue in.
Give me a wet kiss,
On my dry lips.

Oh why,
Is this planet such a bad design?
It kicks me in the ribs,
And leaves me whimpering on my knees.
Oh why,
Is this planet such a heavy scene?
It takes people like you,
And leaves them at mercy of people,
Bad people like me?

Oh come on over baby,
C'mon up and save me.
Give me wet kiss,
On my dry lips.
Oh come on hit me runnin',
C'mon stick your tongue in.
Give me a wet kiss,
On my dry lips.

Oh wet kiss,
On my dry lips.
Oh it's better than a crucifix,
Better than bad time.
Oh wet lips,
Kissy-kiss-kiss.
Oh it's better than lighting a candle,
And putting it on the window-sill,
And watching that flame dance,
Like a lover...
Like you never will...

Oh heavy, heavy thing.
It's a really, truly, heavy thing.
