about

This little gem was recorded in 1998 in Henley Beach. I wrote the song a few years earlier at the lovely "Number 38" Rosa St, Goodwood (now demolished) where all the reckoning dudes lived at one point or another and the album cover is taken right where I wrote the song (and many others).

lyrics

Little Finch
Written by Seamus Anthony Ennis

Police cars,
Screaming down Goodwood Road.
Albert and Agatha the ducks,
Messing up the back yard.
The sun is hot,
And the sky is blue.
I'm not wearing any shoes,
'Cos I don't have to.

Oh - this is beautiful.
Oh - this is alright.
Oh - this is beautiful.
Oh - this is alright.

You've gone,
To some art gallery,
And I'm just sitting in the backyard,
Waitin' on a friend.

I can see,
A little finch in a tree,
And this would be the perfect time,
For everything to end.

Oh - this is beautiful.
Oh - this is alright.
Oh - this is beautiful.
Oh - this is alright.
