Go Away 03:28
It was raining cats and dogs outside, And I was going nowhere with my life, Getting pissed with teenage sycophants, Last night's vomit decorating my pants, And that's when I laid my lucky eyes on you. The walls of the pub were painted green, Of a hue that was ghastly and obscene. I thought to myself: I'm outta this place, Gonna find myself a bar with a little more grace, And you read my mind like those Berlin angels do. Where'd you come from anyway? Why don't you just go away? Now what am I gonna do about you? Where'd you come from anyway? Why don't you just go away? The next thing you know we're walking round hand in hand. And I'm walkin' round like some Goddamn haunted man. Ah fuck this fucked up fucking curse, Yeah to be Love's lover is worse. Oh what am I gonna do?...

No Big Deal 03:54
No Big Deal By Seamus Anthony She lay back on that couch, In a way that only she knows how. She stretched out along that lounge, And said "Hey boy, what are you gonna do with me now?" "Are you gonna put me in a pumpkin, Nestled in the V of a tree, With a genie-sofa and a window all around, So that I can lounge around all day with thee?" And I said "Yes I am, Yes I can, 'Cos you are Perfect Love ... and so am I." Perfect Love, You can't make demands of it. You can't clutch with jealous hands at it, 'Cos it's slippery like an eel. Perfect Love, The little child inside of everyone, Six billion hands upon the spirit drum, With a smooth and funky feel. It's what you feel when you're having fun. It's what you feel when you're struck dumb. And it's no big deal, But she's the seas, the earth, the trees, The sky, the breeze, The moon, the stars, the sun. And I said "Yes I am, And yes I can, 'Cos you are Perfect Love ... and so am I ...

Any Passing Guru By Seamus Anthony The voice from the radio in your car. The wine-soaked graduates in the bars. The gazing readers of the stars. They don't really know, What they're talking about. Those sweet words, They just come tumbling out. No matter how much they scream, No matter how much they shout, They don't really know, What they're talking about. The pretty people on TV. The raving madman on the street. Any passing guru that you do meet. They don't really know, What they're talking about. Those sweet words, They just come tumbling out. No matter how much they scream, No matter how much they shout, They don't really know, What they're talking about. They don't really know what the hell that it is their jaws are flapping about. Yeah, what they're yapping about.

Slack 02:17
Slack By Seamus Anthony Slack is back, Slack is back, It's the only way to be. Work is wack. Hacky sack? Hey man, that sounds good to me. Oh I know I should get on with it, But I don't really care. I still feel as good as I always did, I just don't have as much hair ... these days ... Slack is back, Slack is back, Did it ever go away? Eat a snack, On my back, As I watch the branches sway. Hey no-one said jack, If I did that, Way back when I was ten. Why is slack alright for boys, But inappropriate for men ... these days? Slack is back, It's the new black. What's a boy supposed to do? Hey can I get back on track, When there's so much on YouTube? When there's so much time, To make myself the perfect cup of tea? When it still feels fine, To sling an old guitar across my knee ... these days...

One More Day 02:59
One More Day By Seamus Anthony Seen a lot of faces turned upwards, Seen a lot of heads turn away. Seen a lot of weird, Shit, and I seen your beard, And the hair on your head turning grey. Seen a lot of tears well up in eyes, And slowly roll down sad cheeks. Seen a lot of cold winters of ice, When single days dragged on for weeks. Seen a lot of anger, I've seen a lot of pain and fear. Ate a lot of cold pizza, I've drunk a lot of warm beer. Seen a lot of mayhem, Lot of trouble, lot of strife, But I aint never seen nothin', That never made we want to give up on life. Seen a lot of people go backwards, And disappear from whence they came. Seen a lot of people point fingers, Seen a lot of people lay blame. But there is a fire, And it never will die. There is always a reason, But there's not always a reason why...

700ks 05:32
700ks By Seamus Anthony What am I doing here, On the south side of the stream? What am I doing here, On the south side of the stream? Just rattling these dry and dusty bones of my long dead dream. What am I doing here, Listening to those trains come a-rattlin' in? What am I doing here, Listening to those trains come a-rattlin' in? Just begging the good Lord to forgive me for my despicable sins. And why am I 700ks away from you? Yeah why am I 700ks away from you? And what am I doing here, Staring at this open fire? Yeah what am I doing here, Staring at this open fire? Just tryin' to cage or clip these restless, feathery wings of my desire...

about

I recorded this album during 2007 / 2008 while my partner was great with our first child and then while we were dealing with the result of that.

The guitars and vocals were recorded at a small studio in Belgrave, Victoria (Australia, the World, ...) by one Jeff Springfield, a good man if I've ever known one (no, not in the Biblical sense).

Then I added all the background keys and noises using Garageband on my iMac.

Ok, it's my girlfriend's iMac, but let's not get technical.

I used the actual qwerty keyboard and only ever played each bit once so there's no way I could ever reproduce it, even if I had the notion. Which I don't. So there.

"Dogs May Bark" is a part of a fairly obscure Arabic saying I came across: Dogs may bark but the caravan moves on.

I love that. Very evocative.
